Here's a picture of the carb jets.

Image

As you can see the venturi size is 28
Jets from left to right: 145, 050 and 105.

I also think that they were rebuild, or checked, because the upper gasket is one for a PDSIT 32-34 ...

Not sure if I will use the original carbs on this 127 engine, or 36IDF Webers...

Aircooled greetz,

Hi there.

I discovered this forum and thread by accident, I'm doing conversion build of my VW and I just pulled one of these T127 engines out from my bus. :P

Long story available in: https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopi ... =11&t=2251

But brief history is that my granddad (who owned the bus) got it as a replacement from German military when the original Typ1 engine broke down in the bus. He boasted it was "brand new" and they tried to do the engine swap but this has 24V electrics, EMF shielded spark leads and all kinds of weirdness which apparently halted the effort in the end. Eventually old age and the scale of the repairs left the project standing and my granddad gifted the bus to me.

I have zero interest in this Type4 nor is it part of the bus's history in my eyes. I have the original Typ1 that belonged there which I plan to keep as a relic, as well as my crazy plans for going electric. :D

Buuut as a woman with eye for preserving history. This seems to be rare engine? Is there actually people who'd like to have it before I sell it as just another Typ4 and someone cluelessly strips it down and scraps what's not working? :P How much should I ask for it in this condition?

I live in Finland so logistics might prove to be a slight issue for people in this forum though...

Nice story and a nice project. I’ve just read your conversion build thread, a comment on the weight, a T2 is heavier than you think, gross weight of a Kombi is 2,300kg. 1,300kg on the rear axle.
