Will these only fit in a type 4 case or could you also fit them into a type 1 case?

Type 1 cases cant accept a piston over 95mmm

will 2 cylinders with no fins on the touching side give you more room than 95mm bore,
basically 95mm + sleeves touching each other .

I am not saying they will cool well , just asking if they will fit ?

Then you have to worry about head stud spacing or move the studs......

Right, thanks for the info. I'm personally impressed you can do this with diesel pots. I've been wondering for years if it would be possible to build a 2 stroke type 1 using motorbike pots/pistons and heads.

There is a build thread on here back in 2001 or so of a guy in the midwest that made a 2 stroke out of a bug engine. He also had a bus automatic trans mated to it in a drag sand rail. Pretty cool.

I don't think these can fit a t1 case. You could also fit them on a oxtboxer/wasser boxer case.

Isn't the bore spacing the same as Type 1 on Wasser cases?

Bore spacing is the same t1-wbx, head studs get moved on t1 when 4" bore or the like.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

IIRC, the biggest bore for a t1 was 98mm, and it required siamesed cylinders (ARPM/autocraft iirc)

From memory this setup was for 100% alcohol burning sprint cars and had minimal cooling fins.
For a T1 to be driven, 94mm is about it.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

I’ve done a few 96mm piston/cylinder sets using the standard 4-stud layout. There are blank “thick wall 94mm barrels available now that can be bored to about 96mm, or maybe 97mm if you remove the slip-in section and machine a counterbore into the barrels to align them.

You can use Deutz barrels if you buy a blank case and machine your own studs and eliminate the oil passage going to the cooler.

Cal 67 i will be using a waterboxer case converted to aircooled with 10mm head studs. I would like to hear more about these 94mm thick sleeve liners, where did you get them, what brand and how much did you pay.

The largest I can go with 10mm studs is about 95.5mm. I have a nice, inexpensive hypereutectic piston with a small compression height that would work.

If I was you, I’d machine for some original 93 or 94mm Type 4 barrels, since you have a blank canvas after milling the jackets off. You could then bore them to 96. If you need help, contact me.
