Need some advice

Post by saltgrinder »

Hi all , I'm a long time lurker in these parts and I luv what everyone doing , building and making to get the buzz.
I have been fanging to build myself a type 4 turbo for a while now and need some help if possible .
I want to build a 2160ish with a 78 crank and some 94 b type 1 pistons . Has anybody used this combo ?
Reason being , I have a good set of old 1800 barrels ,which have a thick flange at the head end and would be good for booost
I currently run an angry type 1 turbo and have it tuned at around 300 or so hp , it's a sweet engine but I want something with a bigger bottom end

Any input is greatly appreciated
🤙

Wow I saw 300hp and the weird Combo and my brain clicked -- OZ.

You Mates do some wild stuff, which I love seeing and hearing about.

I can't help you but I am sure some one will shortly.

Welcome!!!

Hi mate , yeah I'm trying to work a combo with 93/94 mm pistons in a type 4 configuration for more reliability . My type 1 is making good power but I can't see it lasting

That is exactly why I wrote the manual. After many T-1's blowing up or needing valve jobs I Tried T-4 and came with the Cali - Style. Had 914 's and they all were in the 160,000 mile range before needing a rebuild and that was for the top end. Bugs weight less, figure a real long time,, ha.
