What is it about the original camshafts fitted to T4's that caused the engines to run hot?
And what specification denotes a cool running cam?

No overlap, short timing ~like a Diesel..., keep the exhaust in the engine longer== more heat transfer.
Great for emissions, might aid economy marginally.
Sorry for power and longevity.
Almost anything else is an improvement, the stock cam did work OK on a 1700, but even a Web73 works better.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
