10 mm Rockers
Hello,
I got a question. I have collected a lot of stuff for a new engine build.
But now I want to modify some rockers for Porsche swivelfeet adjusters, the thing is
I now noticed that I don t have a matching set of rockers, both on the inlet and exhaust I have
different 'numbers 'on the rockers. So is there a difference in rockers or are all rockers the same?

Yes there will be different numbers because those rockers only work in their intended positions....

I tried to find out about all the different rocker part numbers a while ago and couldn't find much info , someone suggested that it maybe down to where the rockers were made . I had 2 sets of 8mm rockers ,one set from the US and another from the UK ,both very different numbers with subtle differences and weights but looked like the same ratio .
In the end I just used the least worn and tried to match the weights as well ,

Could you explain this.
Do you mean that the inlet rocker on number 1 valve has another letter/number combination than the inlet rocker on number 2 valve?
On my other built the inlet rockers have the same letter number combination, as do the exhaust.
( I know the exhaust and inlet rockets are different in shape).

There are 10mm swivel feet adjusters for the later 10mm rockers, they are aftermarket and have been out for a while, but I don't know the quality, nor have I seen anyone posting about the quality.
The 8mm 911 adjusters are of a known quality, and would be a better option, but would mean locating a set of the earlier 1.7 ltr 8mm rockers.
As too the numbers meaning ? I don't know, they could be due to different batches, different weights, different foundry's, and the 8mm rockers have different numbers also, and I have also seen slightly different designs of the rockers.

Thanks you for the info. I am going to have a look what the weight of the rockers is,
and if there is a difference.
On the 10mm adjusters, have not tried them either but have bought them from Thorsten Pieper.
(I live in Europe, so easy to order for us.)

Lets keep this simple. If these are stock rockers....the intake rockers are a different angle than exhaust rockers.
The numbers on the rockers are not really significant. Most of them are mold position numbers.
They are all made in Germany. You have 8mm and 10mm screw rocker sets.
The only real differences to look for is that due to casting changes over the years.....some rockers have slightly more or less ratio angle. So along with checking the rocker shaft bore to make sure you get the least worn rockers.....you can set up a quicky jig with a cylinder head on a work bench.
No springs and no valves. Lock a pushrod in a plug of wood and put it in a fixed pistion in one pushrod hole. Mount each rocker on the shaft and seat it on the pushrod and measure the gap between the underside of the adjusting screw end to the rocker box floor. If the rockers have already been ground kn the underside for swivel feet....measure from the top.
Make sure they are all the same. At minimum...make sure all intakes and all exhaust are equal. Ray

PS Building a 76.4 x 94, H-beam, Type 1 lifter, tapered ali pushrod, engine for the comming season.
Gained much more info for a better build then the last 2, 2.0 engines I build.

I sell them and have some customers using the 10mm adjusters. They're tool steel and travel a lot more than the Porsche OEM 8mm adjusters. If you need any, my email is [email protected]
