What is the general opinion on oil temperatures? My 2.4 type Iv usind a DTM shroud, sits at about 110C under motorway (freeway)conditions and upto 120C under normal stop start conditions. I'm a bit paranoid about the oil temperature at the moment and would like to know what is the best temperature range ?
I have seem some people suggest 80C to 100C is the optimum working temperature, whereas Joe (DTM manufacturer) reckons 100C to 135C are the ideal working ranges. Oil temperature taken from base of the sump.
If I fit an external oil cooler with a fan, what temperature do people reckon the fan should kick in ?
