jalsip, I'm not home now so I can't look up the source for the arced windshield for that body but unless they have since dropped carrying it I know/knew of a source. I have one but not sure I want to part with it.

Falsip, was that site of any help?

The curved cowl "T" windshield used to be carried by one of the better known bug places. The version with the flat cowl was easier to find but I haven't gone looking for one for many years. There are several knockoffs on the Berry Mini-T touring including the origional 80"wheel Mini-T PU and some roadster backed versions. There are also some w/T. style fenders ribs like the T's had on them. I think it might be Kellison (???) that made a popular version among other body styles. If they are still on line you might try their site.

I should be home in two weeks so I can look up where the windshield came from then.

Sorry I didn't answer right away. Been out of town and working on other aspects of the bug. I tried that first link and they are under construction. Phone calls haven't been answered either. In the process of looking at the others. I think the more this comes together it's going to look better with a shorter, sloped windshield. Not as functional I'm sure but sure would look a lot sleeker.

Yeah, the Mini-T thing was done in the era of "Funk" and that is how it is supposed to look... "Funky! The body, especially the "touring version" like you and I have, has that out of proportional sectioned look and the windshield is tall (https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=mi ... &sp=-1&sk=). If I had my druthers I would like to have the Mini-T "C-cab" but as I understand it, they are a bit top heavy.

If you look at the Maxi-Taxi and there is a clone or two off that (https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Ma ... ORM=RESTAB), the cowl for the windshield there is straight across but the idea is there. I did see one called (as I remember) a "Sand Taxi" or something having to do with sand. It was for sale at a good price but one fender was broken and the parts gone so I passed on it as I didn't (and still don't) do fiberglass.

Keep-in-touch here on what ever you decide (or PM me" as I would like to talk more about this.

May the "funk" be with you!

I forgot to mention: go see your auto glass place w/pictures of your body and some of the pix of mini-T and sketches of what you might want.

If your body is like mine it was made of three pieces: the visual body that goes on top that you see, the sides that is a "C" shaped piece that surrounds the passenger comps, and the front firewall. They should have been installed on a jig for alignment.. .appearently mine wasn't assemblied that way as the parts are close but not as close as they should be. The point here is that the windshield is not mounted/attached on the main body like glass buggies have but the windshield legs pierce the cowl and attach to the "C" shaped piece. A stronger mount especially with the big windshield surface that the funky look gives.

If you can find a good side view of a buggy like you have print it, trace an accurate picture then duplicate copies then draw until you get the look you want. A front view can the be developed as well as a 3/4 front view to verify the look. Proportionate measurements can be used off the side view to complete the other two views.

To use your buggy body I would put some narrow chart tape to mark measurements then take pix and enlarge them Don't forget to remove the tape right away as the sticky can eat into the gel coat faster than you might think  .

Jalsip, I forgot, did you ever track down a windshield frame?

I checked my stuff and I thought that information had been lost but in further cleaning up the area I found it. My frame came from Dee Engineering: p/n 6048-12 "BMT W/S FRAME CURVED BOTTOM BAR".

Dee Engineering, Inc. is still in business and this is their catalog (https://prothane.com/wp-content/uploads ... 7-copy.pdf) but it looks like it is only for suspensions... unless there is another one I have missed.

As far as the "T: style of glass buggies it is surprising just how many there are. Some are "splashes" off others w/no changes and some are "splashes" that have been modified a bit to look a bit different and others seem to be ground up redesigns. There are a couple of styles from the southeast I would liked to have gotten a hold of. There is one who's name I can't remember that made several varieties refered to as T-styles which was pushing it but a couple of them were fairly true to the shape. http://www.dunebuggyarchives.com/decisi ... s/BuggyId/ This is the URL for dunebuggy archives which has also been affected quite heavily by Photobucket changes.

The windshield frames seem to come in two important design variations (excluding width and the top being rounded or sharp corners) with the being the flat vs. the curved cowl matching shape.

For what it is worth!
