Actually, I'm not new here. I first posted in 2009, but sadly I never picked up the car. Since then it has been sitting in a garage.
I now have a truck with a trailer and it's looking like 9/22/13, I'll finally be bringing the Ghia home.
This car has sat for years. Probably hasn't ran since 2006. The battery is shot. The tires are dry rotted. The last time I tried to push it, the brakes where all locked up.
What would y'all recommend I do to it before it's reintroduction to the American roadways?
I plan to be here more frequently once I have the Ghia.

Let's see some pics and a description of what appears to need repair.

New tires, brake lines, mastercyl, wheelcyl, rebuild calipers. Replace fuel lines.
Those are the definites, the rest will have to be determined by the condition of the vehicle.

Thanks much. I guess the ability to stop is priority. I'll be back with further details in September.
For now, I'll just be lurking around and learning what I can about the air cooled world.
