Grocery List

Post by david58 »

I am pulling the engine and tranny out of a 73 Ghia. Need help with a grocery list. I started a list, but want to make sure I replace everything.

Engine compartment seals.
Transmission urethane mount kit.
Manual transmission gasket set
Nose cone bushing with seal
Transmission nose cone to body seal
Starter bushing
Barrel clamp on the accelerator cable
Accelerator guide tube
Accelerator cable
Bowden tube for clutch cable
Clutch cable
Clutch cable adjustment wing nut
Decklid release cable tube
Fuel lines braided stock
Rear torsion arm bushings
Engine gasket set
Engine main seal
Flywheel gland nut
Rear brake hoses
Rear brake shoes
Rear wheel cylinders
Rear brake drums
Rear wheel bearings and seal kit
Intake boots
Clutch and pressure plate
Throwout bearing
CV axles
CV axle Bolt kit
Shifter bushing kit
Shifter coupling kit
Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.

Instead of the starter bushing could an auto starter be used?

yes, but I just put on a relay recently and the starter is jam up and jelly tight. A bushing is a lot cheaper.

If there is nothing wrong with the current starter I would just replace the bushing too.

Make sure that your engine gasket kit comes with enough oil cooler seals for a dog house cooler.
If your emergency brake cables haven't been replaced I would add those too while your this far in.
Tubes that go from the body to heater boxes if you still have them and are in poor shape and a hardware kit for the heater boxes.
I've read that the front urethane mount isn't very good and can have alignment/fitment issues(don't know if there is a difference between the early and late mount fitment).
Don't forget the 12pt socket for the CV joints if you don't have it too.
