No gauges work ???

Post by okie mopar »

Just bought this 74 Ghia and none of the gauges work in it. He had put a new gas tank and sender in it so it may be a ground on it. They is not a lot of chopped up wires on it, so I think it is maybe some where I don't to look. I'm not much on the wiring. So any info. will help. Thanks

There are two types of fuel gauge used by VW, the "thermal" and the "balance-coil". MOST 'Ghias use the latter, but late`73 and all `74 use the thermal. I mention this because if the P.O. replaced the sender he may not have used the correct one for your gauge. Here's a comprehensive discussion of both setups from Speedy Jim's site. http://www.speedyjim.net/htm/fuel_ga.htm
