Some of this may help in what you’re looking to do. The Vanagon is also 5x112 and these may help in finding the correct Wheel Nuts, Wheel Studs and Wheel thickness

so this is my bus (after a full air suspension and 5inch narrowed beam is installed) and those are the wheels i found for her, they're 18's (5x112), they do come in 17's but not the 5x112 bolt pattern.they have a 40 offset. so what am i going to have to do to make them fit properly?the wheels are 7.5 wide, will that be a problem around back, with rubbing at all?

Do you know the center bore?

I think that is going to be your largest problem.

I've got 17x7.5's on my bus and it's been tight even at stock height...I don't know what problem arise when lowered...

With 235/45's no problem, with 235/55's I had to run a ~8mm spacer to get the tire off the springplate in my case...and there's approx. zero room between the fender

Well, I found out something new yesterday about Mercedes rims. I'm running 16 inch CLK rims on my bus here. I have no issues of the hub not being big enough for the dustcap/axle nut, etc. which was asked about.

I'm also leasing an '09 C300 Sport that comes with 17 inch rims.

I was curious to see if the 16s would fit on the C300, yes and no. The bolt pattern is the same, the rims don't bind on the calipers or anything, but the hole size is different. This is the first year from what I can tell that Mercedes has done this. I spent quite a bit of time swapping over to smaller studs on my bus I put up earlier in this post. The 'new' models take a bigger lug, 14 x 1.5mm. Does anyone know, is this what bay buses and vanagons use??

Moral of the story, just because the bolt pattern is the same, 5x112, doesn't mean it'll simply bolt on.

Yes, 5x112 Bays and Vanagons are M14x1.5...

Audi uses 5x112 M14 studs...just with smaller hub-centric bits, so they must be opened up to fit in some cases.

It's pretty normal for Mercedes rims to be either M12 or M14 depending on the size of the vehicle...smaller vehicles, smaller studs...The advantage to MB is I've never heard of any hub-centric issues.

Anyone see any strength issues for a loaded baywindow bus or Vanagon high top camper, in switching from 13mm studs/lugs to the smaller 12mm size? (My German Ford Scorpio also uses 5 x 112 wheels with 12mm studs, but it doesn't get loaded quite as heavily as the Westy!)

My '66 bus empty weighs 2800lb. A small Mercedes is about 3400lb., so no it shouldn't be an issue. Studs rarely break, remember the stud isn't carrying the load from the side, it's holding the load by 'nailing' the wheel to the hub.
