3.2l porsche motor into a Bus!
Turbo,
I've got one (a 911 Bus) and its one of the most fun cars I've ever driven. I prefer it over my Grand Cherokee or 356. It has a 3-liter 911 SC engine, 5-speed trans, stock 12-quart oil tank, Terbatrol oil cooler and fan, 911 gauges and seats, and alloy Mercedes-Benz wheels. Plus its a Westy Camper.....the perfect Sleeper bus.
I cruise town in 2nd and it's happy doing 75+ on the interstate. It drives like a normal car unless I put my foot into it. At 4 grand the cam kicks in and pins me to the seat. Mountain passes here in Colorado mean nothing. I still smile every time I drive it.
There are lots of conversion options with other engines (Subaru, V-6, Audi) but to stay true to the calling requires an Air-Cooled engine like the 911. If you have plenty of time and want to have lots of fun when you're done-- then do a 911 conversion.
Although the Troutbus is not much to look at there are some photos at http://photos.yahoo.com/troutbus
Its the Troutbus cause it gets you to the fishin---FAST!

I think this is a "extreme" heavy motor. I prefer a good tuned typeIV! Just a way of see it...

I ran into an old time Porsche mechanic a few years ago here in the Los Angeles area and he has TWO bay window bus' with 3.2L engines in them. He has a customer who does catering with a bay with one of his conversions in it. Hit me up if anyone just has to have one. I'll go over and see if he is still doing these. Lots of plus' and minus' with this conversion. BILL

The owner of a Porsche shop I spend time at has a 3.2 in his 72 Westy. He's had buses with 911 engines since the early 70s, and this bus has had 3 diff engines in it. The 3.2 is a great motor for a bus, and with the 915 trans, it can scoot as well as tow his vintage 911 race cars (tow dolly).
I'm sure he'd sell it for the right price...

Another example of a very nicely done split-double cab with a flat six Porsche:
