Very nice setup and article!
That should have a sticky all its own.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Ran a batch so got some more pics:
The 1/16" slitting saw at work:
A 2.5" or 3" diameter saw is needed to get in under the flange ears (it depends on the diameter of your saw hub):
#37 o-rings in the finished 1/16" barrel grooves:
#145 o-ring in the 1/8" face groove:

I run a cover with the inlet and outlet on it to eliminate the case sealing problems and use a autocraft suction plate.

Re: of oil pumps and aluminum
Last time I tried to get a GB cast iron cover they were out of stock and bought an Empi one it worked. As for pumps all my Melling pumps seem to get sloppy where the gear goes through the housing, it does not seem to change the oil pressure. One thing with the Melling pumps I always use the GB bypass cover as they have a tendency to make excessive amounts of oil pressure cold and hot. Lighter weight oils will compensate for that a bit. I have doubled o ringed the last three GB pump I bought. I think Low Bugget sells a double o-ringed stock Shadeck pump.

Sorry I did not realize this was such an old post. I'm going to pick up some -038 orings 2 and 5/8 id and 1/6 diameter, these appear to be the correct size for the GB oil pumps.

I have just installed an anodised aluminum pumpcover from a known vendor/manufacturer, on a hefty engine. At the end of the season we will take it apart again and see how it holds up. - The claim is that since its anodised, it will not wear, or at least very slow. - Time will tell.

Did you ever get around to checking the wear on your anodized cover?

Steel pump cover with O ring seal
Not using the gasket gives instant blueprint job but won't work with Berg pumps which have been skimmed and rely on the gasket to give clearance

Nice, Paul.
But... just tried to buy one, you might want to look at your shipping options, $77 shipping is a bit steep so I bailed.
Are you sure the Queens Post doesn't have a small flat rate box that would work?

Sorry Mate I just can't get those international shipping rates sorted
The cheapest I can send anything by UPS to the states is $43 and thats for up to about 10lbs
So probably same price to ship ten as it is to ship one
