Even though the engine isn't making power after a certain rpm, if the rpms continue to climb, does that mean that the speed continues to increase as well. Say on a fairly flat roadway?
Always wondered.
Thanks!

As long as the clutch isn't slipping.TeamEvil wrote:, if the rpms continue to climb, does that mean that the speed continues to increase as well.

Hi Teamevil,
The increased rpm's and exhaust noise do quickly reach their own limit once the torque/horsepower limits have been exceeded.

depending on gearing, it is often still beneficial for maximum acvceleration to rev past the torque and power peaks, just to get the rpms high enough for the next highest gear to start pulling clean and strong. If you upshift just after the power or torque peak, you will need to use a lot of less powerful time to let the engine reach the peak again in the taller gear.

in those cases u have to look at the HP curve. to se how much HP drops.and compare to where u end up after a gear change
if it drops faster/lower than than the readings before the peak HP.
u want to be in the RPM area where it makes the highest average HP

What do you change long block wise in a high rpm build?say 7-8k rpm. Bearing clearance, oil pump size, etc?
