We could not make it to the tack for Friday free practice, so Race day qualifying was the first opportunity to learn the track and do setup. Quali went well and we were set for 5th on the grid for race 1.



Race 1, Started in 5th on the grid and got a good start. Not wanting to get involved in a lap 1 incident I decided to take it easy until we get to the long back straight. Once on the main straight switched on high boost and the beetle went from 5th to 2nd. I had a good battle with the turbo VW Polo through the twisty sections and then once we get to the long straight the beetle's hp comes to life. We ended in 2nd on track, but was penalized 10 seconds for exceeding the track boundaries. Aka white line rule. This meant that we were classified in 5th.

Race 2, Started in 5th on track and managed to pass a couple of cars on lap 1. Lap 2 got into 2nd position on track and then started eating away at the lead of the front running turbo charged polo. I could see he was having tire and braking issues and made up ground on each lap until I was close enough to make the pass for 1st down the main straight and made it stick. The beetle managed to pull a slight gap and got the win.

Man I love your car! Love watching turbo aircoolers smash the new stuff. I DON'T love that track surface... uneven, pot-holes, bad transitions. Man, that is super harsh. Must be rough on the car?

This is the worst track on our race calendar. Thankfully we only race there once a year, its really bad. I did raise the ride height slightly to compensate for the bumps, but its still bad.

The vintage car clubs here banned both our race cars, they dont like being beaten. Thus we race in a open series where kind of anything goes. We race against anything from Porsche 944 turbo to Nissan 350z to small turbocharged VW polos
