Kind of off topic, porsche engine in bug

Post by landrocket »

Will a 1965 356 engine fit in my '67 type 1, without any mods? TIA, Ron

Pretty much, but in all honesty, the 356 engine is worth more resale than an equivalently built Type 1 engine.

How much could you get for a rebuilt 914 motor and 5 speed trans?

Pop over to TOS , 914club, or Pelican, for comparison pricing.

I checked out parts and will stick with basic aircooled engines, Porsche parts: add $ 100.00 to everything LOL

Realistically, what kind of hp/tq/rpm levels are you seeking?

I was asking because I have both an engine and trans, but very little use for them.

1700 cc I believe. Straight shift, 5 speed.

tail shift transmissions go for less than the side shifters.
Tail shifts seem to go for $250-$500 depending upon whether history is known.
add $100-$200 for the side shift variant.

the 1700 is in the same boat, low end is a couple hundred dollars, climbing rapidly if history is known.
