480whp 65' Bug k20 turbo, New BOR 67 incar video!!!!

Post by capsoval »

Been holding out for some time now, but its not going to be done any time soon. So I guess I post up about it so you all can take a look.

The story. Gave up on my turbo 2332 a little over a year ago, cause to go as fast as I like to go costs too much money. Its last pass down the quarter it went 11.27@123 at around 300hp.

What I'm doing now, a K20Z1 out of a 05' RSX type-s. Makes 210hp stock, but strapping a GT4088R to it. These motors have made over 400hp on pump gas with 10psi. I'm going for 450, then later down the road put pistons and rods in.

looks like you've got a good start there. 11s are fast for anything. must have had a very serious addiction to speed to swap over to watercooled. where are you planning to put the radiator? I say front personally.

This is personally something I have been wanting to do for a while now. Ive had a hold of 2 different k20a3's, and got rid of them, due to not knowing where to start. I use to be big on K series cars, and tuning them. What ECU are you going to run,a Kpro? Good work, cant wait to see some vids of this thing kicking it down the track.

First question: I am going to put the radiator in the back for now, because its still in the learning stage. Have a large core Koyo out of a civic, which is actually very small cause hondas dont usually need large radiators. Ultimately the radiator is going to wind up in the front.

Second question: Using K-pro, all the wiring is already done. Using K-pro to control boost by gear, Meth injection, nitrous and 2-step launch control.

Should be a ton of fun when done, but still have a lot to figure out. I dont think the bug tranny is going to hold even with aftermarket internals, so I held on to the RSX 6-speed. If the vw tranny doesnt work out, the back half is going to be subframed with the RSX tranny.

I like how my buddy put his radiator up front. Out of sight. runs super cool with a rotary. Go take a look at how the corvettes are, that how he got this idea.

My brother and I have done a number of Subi conversions (into TIII's and TII's) over the years and have looked at other engines, but this one I'm not familiar with....

What is out of?

Its out of an Acura RSX Type-S. Called a K20 and is a DOHC 16valve i-vtec with variable cam timing on the intake cam.

WickedWagens, Would you happen to know what radiator that is in your buddies car? Looks like a perfect fit.

Cant wait to see this beast go. The k20 engine was and still might be the most efficient hp per liter production engine in the world.

Nothing to update at the moment. I am actually waiting for 55superbeetle to finish with the projects he's got going on so he can build my turbo header. He is currently redoing the top mount setup on a RWD Corrado with a 1.8t conversion, and building a turbo setup for a Honda Accord. His work is second to none, and one of the nicest guys you ever meet. When he gets time i am hoping to get the bug over to his house so we can get things moving again.
