930 Box should fit with little mods.

Yes, the 930, or G50 would be easier to fit. But the gearing is too tall for my liking. Not to mention become more and more difficult to find at reasonable prices. And would still require a lot of modifications to make work the way I want it too. If everything go well, the G96 should be a damn near perfect gearbox for my application, and easy to locate and inexpensive to replace. I picked up mine with 30,000 miles on factory rebuild for 1800. Can with slave, pressure plate, a used disk and dual mass flywheel. Bought a 911tt shifter for 60$ on eBay and Boxster shift cables for 45$ on eBay. Gear box is rated by Getrag at 480ftlbs in a 4,500lb car.

Gear spacing for my tires and shift points
1- 51mph
2- 89 mph
3- 129 mph
4- 160 mph
5- 192 mph
6- 233 mph
Obviously 5 and 6 are not practical for 1/4 mile, but if I ever decide to do a standing mile 5th will get used. And crusing will be amazing.

Yeah, it seems tall, but its really not all that bad. My previous 002 bus box was as follows:
1- 42mph
2- 72mph
3- 110mph
4- 156mph

All mph are based on an 8700rpm shift point.

A standard NA G50 5- speed would be:
1- 56mph
2- 95mph
3- 138mph
4- 173mph
5- 220mph

1-4 spacing is just to long.....and a 930 turbo box would be so much worse.

Cool stuff, but I doubt you'd get over 130mph. The car would flip a long time before then.

I actually have already trapped over 133mph in the 1/4 mile with the 480whp motor. New motor should make near 700whp.

That's how it goes!!! Hoping to have the bug back on the road this fall after after a new motor build and powdercoating the subframe.

No, didn’t sell it. Just no progress on it. I’ve had it in my mind that I’ve known exactly what it needed to be reliable and still make the power I wanted it to, but I couldn’t find a machinest to make a part I needed.

I used the Samba a lot before I stopped posting, and those pics are still there.

I think I have a valvetrain issue with one cylinder, I'll find out when I pull the motor. Just ended up with suspected broken main caps in my 2JZ swapped E46 Touring, so I'm focusing on getting that thing back before I crack in to the Bug.

Really? Broken main caps? How much damage total? Crank and rods okay? What power level was it at when it broke cause I no it’s not always on “kill”....or is it?
