I did have the idle air hooked up. It turned out to be a timing issue related to the camshaft sensor. The pulley was bent and striking the sensor as it spun.

Hey, almost done with me swap. putting a 93 EJ22 into a old 72 ghia.
BUT i have a question, on the grounding diagram you say to connect to E1-13/14/etc.
-(power for a 3 plug setup) the E1 connections all run to F25.
- so am i just replacing E1 with F25 and connecting to 13 -16?
also do all the grounds of the components need to be grounded THROUGH the computer? of can everything just find a metal spot on the car.
almost done!
Thanks for any and all help!!!
Mike

diode question. seems it gets wired to the D ecu plug but there are 2 light greens mentioned in your pin out for this ecu plug, D5 ignition relay and D12 injector #2. which ecu plug does the diodes' yellow wire get connected to? this thread is freaking awesome : ) getting ready to put an ej22 in my 1975 porsche 914.

Thanks. D12 goes to the engine plug from injector and grounds through ECU. D5 and all the other power spaghetti is what goes to the diode.jimkelly1964 wrote:diode question. seems it gets wired to the D ecu plug but there are 2 light greens mentioned in your pin out for this ecu plug, D5 ignition relay and D12 injector #2. which ecu plug does the diodes' yellow wire get connected to? this thread is freaking awesome : ) getting ready to put an ej22 in my 1975 porsche 914.

thank you. i had a few loose diodes which i thought were the ones i needed to add to my harness but now, based on the colors you've mentioned, yellow/light green, i see that the diode is still on my harness, but my diode has 2 light green wires coming out of it. i will look to see where they go asap.
here is a pic of what i am sure is my diode and of my harness still in box, waiting for me to remove engine and trans from parts car. notice in diode pic that i have lots of grey sheathed wires to fix.

i thought these things might be the diodes that people say engine won't run without?

Re: DIY - 1990-1994 1/2 EJ22 Subaru Conversion with stock ECU
Great write up and very much appreciated. It's basically been my bible through this process! I do have a question. Everything seems to be in order with my wire harness. However, my fuel pump and fan relays do not power on when power is applied. When I use the test light to check for power, the power in side of the relays light up. When I touch the power out side of the relays, the fuel pump and the fans power on...which essentialy grounds the relays. If I understand the instructions correctly, those relays are grounded through the computer. I've checked all the grounds with the test light and it all seems to be in order. Finally to my question, why don't the relays work and what can I do to make them work? Is there any reason I can't run a separate ground for those relays to make them work? Any ideas would be much appreciated.

my 1990 legacy ej22 harness, i removed the smj plug from my harness and soldered it all back together without plug but wound up with 3 grey sheathed conduits. one pins out to F26 plug but one of them has 4 wires and one has three. one has (red, black, white and copper) but the other has (black, white, copper). the third conduit pins out to ecu plug B (pins: b1, b2, b3). do all these wires get soldered together?
