Oh yeah...thanks for asking. I've been really busy at work and squeezing in a few hours every day to free up my weekends with the family.itawolf wrote:Any updates??
Sway-a-way 300m axles came in. For those running 930 CVs, normal width trailing arms and extended flanges...12-1/4" clip to clip length centers the CV's at full droop.
Tried a couple of different brake line setups, but they either got in the way of the CV's/axles or rubbed on the Subamount. Decided since I have to re-powdercoat the trailing arms I might as well add brake line brackets. They are clean and out of the way of everything through full motion.
Picked up some used 2004 Boxster S adjustable seats with heat. Only had 40K miles on them and are in great shape.
Got the brake proportioning valve installed and all the brake lines are finished. Now I am cleaning up the pan, filling holes and smoothing things out. I will get better at updating

They are. It is the second set, the first set had interference issues with the 930 CV's. Mendeola did great making it right

Got to work on it a little this weekend. Having the early pan with the straight shock towers I ran into a clearance issue with the coil overs. Even with a 1/2" wide spacer on the shock bolt they were still hitting. Now they have a bout 3/16" clearance from the tower but it weakened the tower. I reinforced them with some 1/4" steel in the webbing. Welding the cast wasn't easy, but I heated it up with a torch to around 400-500 degrees, destressed the area while I welded then wrapped it when finished to let it cool slowly. Came out okay, no cracks.

I also finished out the transmission / body sheet metal to accept the suby trans with the neutral switch. Making it look like it belongs there . I had to replace my accelerator tube anyways, so I switched it with the clutch tube position and moved them both further outward for clearance.

Really nice work! I like the care you've taken to rework the towers and weld the cast. That takes a bit of patience to get right, good going!
BTW, what are the boxes you've added atop the front of each chassis arm?

Thanks for the kind words CobraJet
I am doing the best I can to make it look like the suby conversion belongs there. The boxes on the top of the transmission horns are for a couple of lines. The upper are for 5/8" heater core supply and return lines, the lower are for 3/8" fuel lines. Each one will terminate at a bulkhead fitting making hook up easy.

The old 20 gallon oilless compressor finally gave in. Perfect time for an upgrade. Spent the weekend wiring and plumbing for it.

Got to work this week pulling out the old seat rails and TIG welded the small holes shut.
I used a 1/8" tungsten vs the 3/32" and it made it a lot easier. For a filler rod I used .30 MIG wire and it worked out great.
