Should be fine. Look at porsche headers. That'll give you a few hints. They mostly just go to a back box like the muffler and merge there.

Exhaust is mocked up! Realized it was much easier to tack it all together with the mig but it got ugly fast that way. Saved my gas for actually welding it up though so thats helpful.

That looks really good. The only thing to consider is, how will it flex when it gets hot?

So i didn't know how much of a concern that would be, do i need flex pipes somewhere?
I made the hangers to bolt up to the motor itself rather than the body to avoid any issues with vibrations and the like. figured if its rigid to the motor it might minimize those concerns.

Well give it go and see what happens I guess. There isn't a lot of pipe there. Just keep in mind it will likely crack along one of welds on the bends.

ahh fair enough, thats fine if it gets me off the jack stands for a while. V2 will likely be much cleaner anyhow haha. are you thinking flex pipe should be included on either side?

warped a touch when welding so i had to cut and adjust it on the car last night. just about sealed up and then we'll see how it does.

It's hard to say. It might be fine, but it might not. You've got mostly gently curves, so that's good. It's just that's all welded out of thin stuff, so it could be brittle in weird places and crack. That's one of the thing all the weld p@rn monkeys don't tell you about. Ideally it would be good to stress relieve the metal. You can do that pretty easily by just heating it up red hot and letting it cool slowly. Just try and heat it evenly and gently. You probably want to do that off the car.

ahhh interesting, very good info thank you man.

Alright, finished up the last welds, wire brushed the whole thing and put it back on with the gaskets in place. Hangers are a touch off so i'll be fixing that and my tips don't line up as perfectly on the apron as they did before but thats ok for this go round.
Fired it up and man its a huge difference in sound, used to the wide open pipes but this is actually tolerable. Completely lost the subaru rumble as expected but sounds clean and mean(well as mean as an ej18 can sound) didn't notice any blatant leaks or anything but i am going to take it off, fill any pinholes or missed gaps if they show themselves now, attempt stress-relief by heating it, paint it with some rust preventative and wrap it with a titanium exhaust wrap as its a touch closer to the coolant pipe that i'd like until i can move that a bit. i was thinking about grinding the uglier welds but per Petew's comment i think i'll leave them for strength since its getting wrapped.

almost forgot the O2 bung, exhaust should be wrapped up this weekend

Filled the one pinhole i found, welded in my O2 bung, heated it up to hopefully relieve stress, cleaned it, coated it, wrapped it and reinstalled.

That looks great! Very tidy. :)

...but I wouldn't have wrapped it. It's twice as likely to rust and crack now. :(

oh really? I was just trying to avoid any extra radiating heat on the coolant pipes.
V2 will be routed better to avoid the ordeal altogether and hopefully i can make it nice and pretty next time.

thanks guys
