I currently have a 1971 westy with a 1600 dp and in need of a full rewire due to a crafty old PO and a 2003 mexican beetle 1600 fuel injection that has a really funky knocking to it. Even with complete tins, the motors run much hotter than I like for my air cooled vw's. Im near Cancun and there are many buses running around with factory 1.8 8v motors. I havent had a chance to get close enough to look at these, does anybody know how the motor attaches to the transmission? I would love to convert both of these to these motors. local mechanics are some how mating bugs to these motors.
