How different is the cooling system to a std type 4 engine?

Not much difference at all. Both use the "pancake" or "flat" cooling setup, as opposed to the "upright" setup on the Type Is. There are specific differences in the engine tin (the shape of the engine bay is a little different; the 2.0 914 spark plugs have a different angle so the holes need to be different, etc.). But those are pretty minor differences.
