Front rotor grease seals

Post by Piledriver »

The big FLAPS chains (Oreallys/autozone) link a #1217 front wheel grease seal for late T3s and 914s.
(right along with the early seals that don't fit at all)
This is also the same seal on the early 914, the late T3 uses the early 914 (411) rotors.

That is a single lip seal and IME does not last long.

The OEM part# crosses to a #1962 seal, which is a flanged double lip seal unit and it is just as common and costs no more.
Works peachy.
Spooge some grease in the groove between the lips before installing.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
