With Wilson's book in hand I got 'em apart. No problems except for whacking and bending one of the fan housing studs. Duh.
Interesting - the engine (GA case 2.0litre) ran OK, but as I progressively tore it down I found that all was not well, cracked rings, worn out valves and guides, cracked heads, brutal exhaust stud repair and tonight, worn cam lobes (one really bad) and curiously, # 2 main bearing had one massive and deep pitted section. Wonder if that was opposite the oil passage in the crank journal. The engine sat for years.
Any thoughts on wha'happen? The main bearing is particulary curious.
Also, can anyone suggest what else I ought to do to the cases while I have the engine completely apart? What else I should check?
Which Oil gallery plugs are prone to falling out?
Are those aftermarket pressue relief pistons worth installing?
