I put mine in the head between cylinders 3 & 4. There is a perfect little spot for it. No personal data yet, but others have had good luck with it there.

lol you don't sound convinced. Idealy I would put the stock thermostat on..I should make an oil temp gauge part of the "updrage". I hate that I do so many short drives, same with my Volvo, it hardly ever gets fully warmed up to and from work, so somtimes I have to go romp on it on the freewayMarioVelotta wrote:ok

It is a square hole but the correct size to tap for 3/8" pipe. I just ran the tap up there, then threaded the sensor in.1955cc66bug wrote:I like that idea too...how is it held there?

I think there might be a difference between mounted under the head and mounted in the head. I have seen others make a bracket that just holds the temp sensor in the air stream under the head and they said that on long freeway drives and such it was cooling off to much. Minami stated that his went up to 300 or so and stayed there once it was warmed up.

Yeah I read that too. Maybe since the sensor is actually touching the head it gets heat soak. This may be where I put it first since it's just too damn easy not to LOL

I had mine in the 1/2 valve cover in the top but Mario was saying that it might not get enough oil temp there. Probably little oil splash on the top also. he had suggested that I put it in the 3/4 side if I wanted it in the oil. Alright, I made a decision lol...I put it IN the head! haha I know, it's a little permanant, but these heads aren't going anywhere, and I can plug it if need be. Pics...

I think that is a great solution! You will get the heat soak plus on a normal drive that should have oil over it. Now just make sure you won't melt wires on your header

You could get some DEI heat shielding. It's usually available at your FLAPS. And use it on any wiring around your header or hot spots.

Good to hear! I think it will work out great too. Sucks drilling into a head, but oh well...it's all in the name of smooooth running eh? LOL It was also fun buying a 9/16 drill bit only to find out it's for a 1/2" drill...then coming up with a concoction to get it to work with my 3/8 drill...lol Only thing sacrificed was my 1/4" extension
