Reminds of the scene in "Grandma's Boy", but substitute Laura the Explorer with Number 1.

hmm just looking over my forum and notices all my images are messed up... hmm I'll work up fixing it all up not sure what happened, I did purchase more image space, so since I went from a free account to paid maybe the links changed. grrr
Anywho, my phone has been trying to upload new images, when it gets done I'll post up some new ones along with fixing the old ones.

So I got fuel all ran, did a fuel pressure test, it holds from 40 psi and drops to 30 psi after 30 minutes, then drops to 18 psi after 5 days of sitting. I had 3 leaks, it was my first time using compression fittings and I wasn't sure how hard I needed to tighten them down. No leaks now and its all good.

What I have left,
1.) making spark plug wires,
2,) installing the CHT sensor, I am going to mount it at the bottom of the valve cover in the 3-4 head. Its temporary till I buy some real heads. I'll drill and tap the appropriate spot.
3.) I have to order a new wideband 02 plug (the LM-1 brain is still ok) as mine melted on my header, I even had it wrapped with the aluminium lined fiberglass heat protector, it burned through that!
4.) looks like I am going to buy a new hex bar linkage, I bough a used one off the samba, its bent and one side doesn't fit over the little ball.
5.) wire the relay board,
6.) drill a hole for the map hose to fit through fire wall
7.) solider the db37 (bottom one) for the sequential
7.a) run a single wire to alternator (I had a generator)
8.) start it hope it runs ok...
9.) after confirmation of everything and I get it tuned, then install bulk head connectors

possible road blocks...
finding someone to weld the bung into my valve cover
delay on getting replacement wideband and hexbar linkage
not starting, having to back trace my mistakes

Quick update, and questions at the end...

What I have left,
5.) wire the relay board, --

6.) drill a hole for the map hose to fit through fire wall -DOING TODAY

7.) solider the db37 (bottom one) for the sequential

7.a) run a single wire to alternator (I had a generator) -DOING TODAY

8.) start it hope it runs ok...
9.) after confirmation of everything and I get it tuned, then install bulk head connectors

Questions:
I am running my wires through bulkhead connectors, do you all think that the alternator charge wire would put off to much interference if I run it through the bulkhead connector to so it will be
next to all my other MS wires?
I want all wires going into the engine bay to come through the bulkhead just cause it would look nice and be easy for any engine swaps. :P

---
btw don't buy fully universal spark plug wire kits, ie the ones where you put on both boots, make sure you buy the kits with the spark plug boot on already, then just cut to length and put on a coil end. It was a total BITCH to get those long strait gray boots on... I spent over an hour on each boot, except for the last one it took 5 minutes! @2:45 am The trick is dish soap!, do not put ANY die-electric grease on them!!!

To Do list.

1. hook up new linkage, The other was messed up, bent rod used...
2. hook up relay board.
3. hook up ground
4. hook up power
5. hook up ignition
6. hook up signal to injectors and coils
7. hook up power source to injectors and coils (ie relays) LS2 Truck coils use 7.3 Amps each so I am going to hook 2 coils per relay to utilize 15 Amp fuses
8. plug the MS into the computer and configure it (GULP)

My Grounding schematic

My MS board all wired up..

Its alive, its Alive, its ALIVE!!! :)

So I got everything up and the ecu talking, ....

After about an hour phone call with Mario I was able to get her started!

Now it just idles at 2000 rpm. I'm working on adjusting 1 parameter at a time... but dam, everything I touch it dies...
I'm taking off work Tomorrow, maybe Friday. To spend a day tuning on it! :)
When I get it to idle proper ill do some VEAL tuning with her.

Im so excited! I have had this stupid grin on my face for 2 days now.

Oh and boy is it responsive! I went from a single pic 34, to a decently tuned progressive, to the megasquirt dual 40mm idf,

Oh and for right now I am running in wasted spark.
I'll switch over to full sequential after I get a good tuned worked out for the wasted spark. :)

Sorry no pics or video yet... been to busy getting work done on her, I neglected to document a few parts.

So just an update on this, I've been MS less for the past 2 weeks... arrhh I ended up having a fuel leak on the drivers side. The fuel injector wont stay seated, (I should have used some clips...) oops! anyway long story short, it seems that I am also maxing out the duty cycle on the injectors, so I am going to put in some ID 725cc injectors. They will be here Saturday, but now I won't be able to work on it till I get a garage stall to work in. The land lord said no more work in the parking spot. :(

The 40mm IDF I think are to big. Here are my symptoms, First gear hauls ass, Second gear hauls ass, 3rd gear falls on its face and pulls slowly, same with 4th..
At high sustained RPM, my AFR shows Rich, but my duty cycle is showing more than 100%, so I am thinking the injectors are staying on evening during the exhaust stroke?

anywho, I'll get the fuel rails cleared - I think everyone was correct, looks like I had some rubbing on that drivers side which is why I think the injectors started to leak, maybe the
bracket is bent now..

sorry to cut short busy at work.
back to work I go!

Caution Pic Heavy:

Ok so I ended up cutting some access panels in, from http://www.hookyspanelshop.com/
very nice product!

127.50 USDollars shipped to California :)

Here is the hole that I cut, I actually cut further so I could put in a piece of rubber where the rails hit.
When its done it should be pretty trick :)

Here is the rough cut
Image

The frame it has threaded holes, it also has a curve so it contours to the body. Pretty slick

Such easy access :)

Ok here are the latest what I consider "sexy" photos.

a peak
Image

Image

Grounding tab and hole through firewall, I have bulkhead connectors that will go here.
The grounding tab goes directly to the battery, directly to the engine, and those small wires are the dirty grounds from the coils.
Image

Image

oh yeah hold it right there don't move
Image

Bulk head pass through, the large blue wire is my alternator charging wire. :P The one below it is ground.
Image

Image

coils and incoming air temp sensor ie CNP and IAT
Image

next things I'm doing right now
roller tube,
moving hex bar down a notch and using shorter heim joint rods,
new throttle cable,
finish cutting other side access panel
mount wide fenders in back and wire up LED tail lights
install my new ID 725cc injectors.

oh and FIX my IGNITION CURVE! Found out why my car is falling flat on face at high rpm... I was not retarding at high kpa and high rpm instead I kept increasing advance.
