Air temp is important due to the density. Warmer air holds less fuel.
I would think your AFR's would be steadier if the ECU can compute knowing the temp therefore the density.

If not turboed you might get away with it but with the wild temp swings from compressing air you almost have to have it with a turbo motor.

Can always just install one and hang it somewhere, even in the cabin

I have my open element MAT sensor plugged into the air cleaner, but I don't have a turbo. (yet)

With boost, its essential to know the post-turbo air temps or the fuel calcs will be wrong.

MAT is critical data for calculating air density and thus fuel volume. You can "fake it" temporarily with a potentiometer, set to read a sane value.
NO sensor will read -40F, and the fuel calcs will be for very cold, dense air.

CLT is used for warm up.
You are hosed without MAT, unless you are running a MAF sensor, but that still needs CLT for proper warmup/cold starts..

I'll sort one out then, just trying to find a uk car with one, I think GM will be the same as Vauxhall (calibration wise)

CSV files (comma separated values) are not the standard logfiles.
The only .CSV files TS generates are for the trigger/wheel logger.

These need to be opened in the ignition log viewer tab.

I've been doing it all wrong then, so to make a normal log I do the short cut u said or via the menu at the top under logging or something?
I've been going to that trigger logger tab and clicking start in there.....

To start a log in TunerStudio
hot key combination is ctl+l, then hit enter.

To stop a log from keyboard do same (start new log) but "esc" out rather than hitting enter.
All the std logging options are in the logging menu, so you can start/stop it that way if you wish.
Can also be set up to start automatically, but I forget how at the moment, probably in the startup script.

Ignition logging is its own thing, works different, has its own menus/tabs, even uses different file format...is grabbed in short fast bursts to memory.
