Windshield Wiper linkage bushings

Post by Clatter »

Ok, I think a PO took my wiper mechanism apart.
It doesn't say how it goes together in the Bently...
All I have here to look at is a late model one..

This is a 67..

The little plastic bushing where the linkage attaches to the shaft have one side that's small, and another that is bigger, like a washer.
I was guessing that the small end of the bushing goes in toward the arm, then the warpy washer, then the E-clip.
The warpy likes the wide flat side of the bushing, right?
And the E-clip likes the washer there to er, wash...
Or do i have it wrong?

Maybe the warpy goes underneath at the arm, like the wiper shaft???
The book shows the wiper shaft...
'
How about that wiper shaft?
The book shows a spacer under the circlip-wire holder thingie..
My wiper shafts have not the spacer.
My late model example has the spacers.
The book, however is a 68-up version.
Could the 67 not have the spacer?
The circlip wire seems to ride OK in like it is, just up against the threaded shaft housing, and endplay seems alright.

Just want to be sure. It's raining a lot here lately, and 1967 was a long time ago..
Especially if a PO got in there and rearranged everything.. :?
