AAR Adjustment?

Post by Max Welton »

What is the correct adjustment procedure for an AAR?

Also, I found that on mine, the shaft does not move smoothly and sticks in the position shown. When the spring reaches ~114ºF (heat-gun and IR thermometer test) the shaft snaps to the closed position instead of moving slowly as I expected.

Maybe it got hot and warped? Dunno. It was clean enough.

I put the shaft in a drill and gave it a good hard spin with some cutting compound (ok ... tooth-paste) to let it self-clearance. After cleaning I reassembled it with a little wheel bearing grease and now it's fine. 30 minutes and done.

I do wish it responded more at CHT speed than oil temp speed. But it's simple and good enough.
