What's the trick to removing the speaker grills in a 71 Bug? I looked inside the trunk and I see what look like metal tabs sticking through that could be bent to release something inside the dash - they roughly line up with the speaker grills. Am I right?
The fabric in mine is all dry rotted / crumbling and I want to scrape off what's left of it and put some fabric back there that matches the body color. The fabric started crumbling when I tried to reinstall the factory stock speaker in there for the AM radio (which works but I don't even use), but couldn't find a screw that fits, so I just left it out.

Actually, I've had so many MANY other projects come up, little nagging here-and-there things, I never got around to it and sort of forgot it. Thanks for reminding me!
