You were supposed to be hitting the high spots, not the side spots.

Their roots go ~straight down until they find water, so they are pretty well anchored.

As of right now just 2 but a little roomier on the inside.

Yes, thorns were not a concern, they are heavily rooted, all I did was knock some bark off of it and tire mark it. IT was hard to read the tracks as they were pretty light but I went from a high spot to a hard spot.
