I would loose the pea shooters... never have cared for that style of exhaust. But hey! It's your car, not mine. Great thing about Baja bugs - none of them are alike. Make it the way YOU want and don't let anyone tell you different.

looks like it is coming together. i heard the plastic oil fill cap have a rep of coming off. since your going to a swap meet, you might look for an aluminum one. and thought only texas rednecks painted their engine blocks but it looks good.

truth be told, being from and living in texas, i paint the transaxle, at least for rail cars.

but for my engine i go for the natural, earthy east texas red clay look.

I have the same cap, and after 70 miles of road I bet no one here would dare to go on. My cap has never come loose. By the way I will never go back on that trail. It was just not fun. Think of a gravel road. Now make all the rocks the size of cantaloupes. millions of them every where. No flat or smooth ground. You can't even imagine it unless you were there..
Point is. mine never gets loose. Save your cash until you know you have a issue.

The under tin (under your crank pulley)..

Has anyone had this piece of tin create issues in an offroad? I've had a broken belt get hung up there - did some damage.

Or am I a lone freak
