Lotrat's Budget Baja Build

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Would I pass tech with safety wire?

I was just messing around... and no one bit. You guys get serious on me in my absence? Torque spec on snot box bolts, that was funny.

I may end up selling the baja at some point. I'm planning my Cal-exit. Can't afford to live here with a 15% paycut to pay for single-payer healthcare. Still trying to unload the dirtbikes. CL people should be fined, imprisoned, or at least castrated. Offer-Up isn't much better. People sure like to waste other peoples time. IMAO.

Safety wire would have to pass inspection for how tight it's wrapped and which way it's twisted. The person applying it has to pass the same test. I see SO much foolishness from those I feel SHOULD know better, such a question as you asked seems routine.

Yeah. Us natives are trying to chase away all the extra furriners, like those from Ohio and New York and Florida. 40 years of the wife working for the world's largest healthcare company has us set for life on that situation. Our son will have to face that demon in a couple of years.

Actually "stretch" on bolts is the game. It is the cause of the "friction" between the two threads sources (the bolt and it's receptacle) that holds things together. No stretch then no friction and things come loose.

Move to Oklahoma, home of the red man with a "gaming center"(casino) on every corner! (Almost)

My wife is Chickasaw, one of the wealthiest tribes in the USA, our daughter is employed by them and when the son graduates this fall he will work for them too...

I think we have more slot machines than Vegas and the Chickasaw Winstar casino is the largest in the US. Located on I-35, just north of Texass.

The tribe was nice enough to buy my tag on my new Transit work van....

They didn't pay all of it, about 25% of the total.

I have family in Tulsa, so Oklahoma is out. We have the casinos in Cali too, not my thing. Thinking ID or WY. Not many tech jobs in those states. Been doing some tractor repair as of late. Got two under my belt! Maybe it's time for a career change.

Major update to the Lotrat baja in 2019. I don't really want to spill the bean on it just yet, but it's gonna be big!
