DesertGuy 2.0

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Unreal. Just skimmed the thread and you are just as unreal as you were when I was 14. Amazing detail.

Update:

Since the car will be used for racing as well as just tinkering around... I felt it needed interchangeable clothes - one set for when she is racing and one set for comfort. Added a lockable luggage container and a windshield from a 'modified' Toyota Tundra... that way when in Mexico, I can still show the car off while being comfortable with just a headset when out exploring. The ice chest is in a stealth location.
Finished up ALL of the aluminum work from Marty at MME, so that can be finally checked off the list. Now... need to finish up running the power steering and fuel lines since I know the panel layout. After that, just need to finish up the brakes and do final wiring so it can be fired up.

Still moving along.... these Class 1-ish/prerunner-ish jalopy's seem to take lots of money to build, who would have thought?:D

A few pics... everything is being broken down and another trip to the powdercoater.

Rick, it would take 'divine intervention' for it to be at this 1000.

If things pan out, it may show up in the classifieds for a cut rate price to free up funds for a different opportunity. If no sell... I would like to do the next peninsula run.

You sick mutha

She is looking pretty fancy though. Was the windshield option something you figured out the details on yourself or is that something that you borrowed from other sources?

Yup, unfortunately, the market is too soft to really think it would sell... but never know :D :D :D

Always had the removable windshield in mind from the start. I bought everything for the radio to run a wired helmet and the headsets, it is too hard to drink a beer with a helmet on. Initially, I thought a Toyota Tacoma windshield would be the one... after the frame was built and the width of the car, he had to use a Toyota Tundra windshield instead. I had two windshields cut down, so I have a spare sitting in the closet.
