OK. So last night I got home and worked on it myself. I cleaned the idle jets, main jets made sure it was getting gas ect. Started it up and it ran fine. I let it sit and idle for about 10 minutes, revd it up and it was running really good and very responsive. Got in the car and drove it down the street. 1/4 mile later it started popping and backfiring. Got it home and back in the driveway. It would idle but it was rough. When I gave it gas it would want to die but didnt. Shut it off and had some dinner. Came back out an hour later started it up and still running like crap. It seems like when the engine is cold it runs fine but when it gets hot it starts to back fire. Still think its a carb issue but just cant figure out what. :?

It does sometimes. If I mess with the throttle and pump it it starts to run better. Almost like its starving for gas yet we put the big jets back in it.

Did you blow out the venturi feeds? I don't know if that's what they're called or not, but the holes where the fuel actually enters the airstream. How old is the fuel filter?

Well we have done everything I can think is possibly wrong. Cleaned the carb, Changed Spark Plugs and wires, Replaced coil, installed new 009 dizzy and it still will not run right. I started it last night and finally got it to idle and figured out that the #4 cylinder is not firing properly. I can put my hand on the exhaust pipe and its warm where I can not touch the other three.
Tonight we are going to do a leak down test on the #4 and see what we get.

Anything else you guys can possibly think of???

Well boys...Its running again. Needs to be timed (since we put a new dizzy on it) and the carb needs to be tuned just a little but its running and he drove it yesterday. I don't know exactly what it was but it was either the #3-#4 intake or something in the carb.
And he really likes the gear ratio in the 002 bus box. Since that's what started this whole thing. He said he can cruise 45 mph in 4th and still have power to pull out. Thanks for all you help guys. We both appreciate it a lot.

Oh and BTW... Tomorrow is his 18th birthday. 8)

So I timed it to 30 degrees at 3000 rpm and its really responsive but theres still a flat spot and it bogs down pretty bad or it sounds like its bogging down. Maybe play with the timing a little or play with the carb tuning? Im all ears. Should I throw the 125 jets back in it?

All good so far. But I dont see how y'all can do 70 miles an hour with a 1600 on 31's because I can only hit 70 with the wind at my back with a 1915.

Need some help guys.. Where can I get replacement seat covers for my seats. They are the EMPI cloth seats that I bought. I can see why they were only 200.00 for the set. The seats didn't even last a year before they started deteriorating.

Any help would be appreciated.

Figure out who they are a direct rip-off of (Because I am sure they are) and then order a set of covers from the real thing?

Just a thought.
