Did you ever track down the idle issue?

yup... didn't work.
So, we're on to trying a new ECU.

What type of 'idle issue' are you having?

Re: Motorbreath's Chenowth 2 Seat Play Car
I have high idle, (1300rpmish). And, after the engine is up to about 150 degrees, or if I touch the throttle before then, I get a slight variation in idle.
"...instead of idling nice and smooth, like wwuuuaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh...... It's all like, bum bum bum bum bum bum bum....you know?"
I also have slight "bucking" at low speed part throttle.
Runs great at WOT.
Manifold vacuum seems good... and no amount of misting combustible gasses about the manifold have shown me a vacuum leak.
I have a "IAC circuit failure" code. The iac is new... And I was walked through testing the harness from the ecu to the iac... All tested ok.
So... I'm going to try a different iac, and then a new ecu. Then... If that doesn't work... I'm going to buy a couple turbos, a different ecu, and an LS7. (Wait... Sh!t... I just remembered my wife won't let me sell our house it build a buggy motor... Selfish broad...)

Just curious - What ECU are you using now?
I'm working on a 3.5....

Re: Motorbreath's Chenowth 2 Seat Play Car
Gotcha... after I had mine out for the first time it started idling odd (at idle/low throttle it ran crappy... 'opened up' it ran great). Afterwards, found out it was the Idle Air Solenoid (thanks to Baja5). Fine dirt found its way under the 'shovel' of the solenoid and prevented it from sweeping smoothly. One of the barbed lines was allowing very fine dirt to pass into the solenoid.

I am running a stock Odyssey ecu. The harness was trimmed by a fella in AZ, but the ecu is untouched.zancat wrote:Just curious - What ECU are you using now?

So, when the Honda Tech friend of yours says to be weary of the aftermarket IAC valves for the j35a4... heed his warning.
Due to the persistent IAC fault code, (even with a fresh Autozone IAC in place) the gentleman I bought my motor from sent me a used Honda IAC to try.
F$^KIN' BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! Problem solved.
We spent the whole weekend in Ocotillo Wells without even a burp, hiccup, or other unwelcome idle stumble. Ran great. Had a ball...
