Whats the average fuel usage per run.

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

This weekends run: 140 miles. Up to 9500ft. 15 miles of that was dirt fire road, 6 or so miles of low speed technical driving.

6-7 gallons of fuel

IDK, I just kept dumping 5 in each time we got back to camp

Thinking about 7-10 MPg but not sure yet. I think we did better on the cruising trip with Baja5 and JT1967 but not sure really. Maybe closer to 12-15?

I really need to figure out what my range is, Mark says 175 miles min before fuel. I hate, I mean HATE to haul fuel in a fuel can up on top, that just has bad ending written all over it.

Yes sir I am, those look interesting. Would think they might fair better in a roll over. Wonder what the heat would do to them up there.

That is about it. It depends a lot on how and where you ride plus how heavy your foot is on the loud pedal. For the black buggy I had a fuel gauge system made for the AL tank that is accurate twice... full, mid-full and running out of gas says it is empty.  Bwahahahaha!

Fuel weight adds up but if you have a strong enough engine you can overcome the weight... somewhat.

Not sure on the configuration of the new buggy but maybe a 2gal down low in front of passenger feet? I would think that your range will be good, but if you are missing by by anything its going to be just a little? I doubt you would need to be more then a couple gal?
