In spite of living in the desert, I've seen enough flooding around this area a couple of times that we've not been able to leave our small town for a couple of days. We've had 2" of rain in 20 minutes in a summer thunderstorm with lots of local damage. The hardest rain I've seen was officially called 4" of rain in 12 minutes. A woman drowned 1/4 mile from my house in that one. Those instances the water quickly subsided. We've had the front half of our attached garage flooded as much as 3" deep in water and lost some vintage car magazines and such in the garage. But flooding around here has never been anywhere near as severe as what Ed and his wife and neighbors are dealing with, nor like having our home washed away like cbeck describes.

Ed can you email or post your pictures of your beam build. I'm waiting for my adjusters to arive now then will start it. I'm doing a stock width, stock everything with rack mount and no shock mounts. Pretty simple and I think it will be easy just like all the reference photos before I start. I'm useing 2" .120 wall tubing and will be 34 1/4 long.

If you can find it I posted an off-road BJ beam w/adjusters build including a big mistake and noted it.

It is good to see STF is BACK.

I just got it RUNNING, not the best and setting codes but I could drive it right now if I could get it out of the shop! I came in the house to look up codes and found the forum working :D So looking at the codes I am wondering if I have some water in the harness causing some odd things but over all I am happy. It does sound like the idler pulleys for the cams may need changing and maybe the alternator as there is a bearing sound somewhere. I did have to change the computer out from my parts car but I will get another one when I hit a pick-n-pull. Now I need to work towards getting it out of the shop and that is not easy. The water broke through the sand bags by going under my gate and now there is a 4 foot deep hole under my gate and also a dead car in the way :(

A good day, STF and my car both start working at the same time :D :D

Thanks CWB, we are making progress. With enough letters to the Governor and mayor and many city counsel meetings we now have the flood gates to the river back on and working again so I now feel we are much safer from it happening again.

I think it is time for the next level of being for my car sort of. This flood has caused more problems than I wanted right now but we (me and my car) must go on. I have it running pretty good and I got the SVX behind it running and out of the way so I thought drive it out, well that did NOT happen. I got in and started it up and went to put it in gear and the clutch will not release so I shut the motor off and put it into reverse and went to start it thinking that would brake the clutch free but no. So I went to put it back in neutral and something in the nose of the transmission did something and now it is stuck in reverse and the clutch is locked up too. Also the way I built the car I had the main fuse box, relays and computer in a box with the battery and what I think happened is the water got in there (every where) and the battery acid came out of the battery and corroded everything in the box, things in there are a mess. With a different computer and new relays it runs though.

So for the car's next level so to speak it just got it's new front suspension and now it is going to get a all the parts out of my parts car, computer that is already there, it's wiring harness and new relays, it's motor and it's transmission reversed and put in to my car. More than I planned to do both in work and money but it now needs to be done. I love my car and it has taken me on many great trips so I now must make it better than it was. I am going to be calling Subarugears today and get this rolling. When done it will have the 5 speed and the new front suspension so I can't wait to have her back on the road. BTW when I had it running I was test things and the AC still blows cold air

Way to keep the good Attitude up. Your making a lot of lemonade from that mix you got served. 5 Speed and AC, nice!

I would like to thank TimS, n8ball and JUSSUMGUY for coming out to Elko this weekend and cleaning my shop for me, well I did help but they took over and helped my get rid of some things. I still have a few more weeks of house work but now the shop is ready for me to go to work on the bug when it is time.

Thank you again guys

I may have stroked your dial indicator. Also, I think it liked it.

I hope you get back to normal soon and start enjoying that Subaru transmission.
