Here We Go: DD Build

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Standing on her own for the first time ever. It will be short-lived. Wheel studs aren't long enough for these meaty Method wheels. Need ones 12-15mm longer. Clearance at full lock worked out!

Looking good, dude! Tacos... you need more tacos to help make it run.

Cerveza might help with all this cypherin'. Still messing with caster, camber and toe at midstroke and level. Caster 8+ for both. Good there. Camber at 2.5 and 2.4 (I may lower those with a half turn. Trying to determine if better to be slightly over or slightly under the 2 degree mark). Sitting on the ground now while I adjust toe in. Toe close to 1/8, but not perfect yet.

Are you adjusting it at parked height or loaded ride height?

Mid stroke. Well, just shy of that actually. I understand 60/40 is about where you want ride height, so that's what I'm using when trying to dial it in. I understand I may be tweaking it more once built.

While I am sure you already allowed for it: just-in-case, don't forget to add the proper weight for fuel and passengers (et al) when setting things up. I've seen it done wrong a couple of times and it wasn't that easy to get the adjustments right after getting off on the wrong foot.

Have you considered a Subaru engine for your buggy?
