That dyno shows peak hp is at 6500. Tq however is at 5000.
I didn't think 5500 was very high, but I've never really driven mine with a tach. I put one in it but never really got a chance to watch because I was busy looking at boost and afr numbers!
Yes I'm sure the dyno is crank hp. I saw another build they did that peaked at 190hp . Hp and tq peak at 5200 or so on that engine.
Also I should point out I'm not looking to build a drag engine here. But there are many heads in the same price range so I want the best bang for my buck. I mean if I can make 200 hp or 325 hp for the same money....

I beg to differ. Revving the heck out of the engine makes me smile everytime

Probably wouldn't take much for me right now. I'm still running the stock 1200cc 6v gearbox. No clue what the gears are but it only does like 7mph in first!

Hey I've just been looking at MS stuff and was wondering. My phone took a crap a couple weeks ago and I got a free tablet with my new one. I put service on it for my kid to use wherever. Any chance they are capable of running the software or do I have to use a laptop? It's Android by the way.

Android can't run Tunerstudio, which is the main tuning software. But it can run MsDroid. Its a good app, but not as good as Tunerstudio.

MS-1 with a Version 3.0 board would be the cheapest way to get into using MS.
Just go with basic Crank fire and direct fire ignition and have it set up for batch fire injection.
Add just a few options to start to keep the price down.
You can always upgrade to MS-2 or MS-3 but the MS-1 chip is only $16.00 so it's not much of a loss when you move to MS-2.
MS-2 is plenty for a FI street car.

Rev limit is standard on MS direct fire..

Options are to name a few.....

Dual tables
Dual Map sensors for constant baro and boost above 21 lbs.
Electronic Boost Control
Launch control
IAC control.

All the above add cost to either building it or having Mario or someone add them.

Looks like MS2 is only $75 more than MS1 V3. Probably worth the extra $$ (in kit form anyway).
What is dual tables?

Something that very few users need to even worry about. I use it because my engine hardly uses its map sensor when not under boost. It makes almost no vacuum, and i found that my tuning window was stupid narrow. So I changed to tps based on everything not under boost. Made a huge difference in drivability, but not whats typically needed. Most installs work just fine with a single table, using the map sensor.

Yeah who knows what I will make for vacuum. My stock engine made a ton. 21" if I remember right.

Also I guess I'm going to call CB again Monday to see what they think about heads again. They are about the last thing I have to decide on. Go safe and a bit cheaper with the Panchitos or nuts out with the Ultra Wedge....or something in-between....?!?!
I kind of seem to like the MS2 extra. I like the data logging, boost control, shift light, and water injection control. I think the only other thing I would like with the MS 3 would be the SD card for logging without a laptop. That would be nice.

Spark cut when afr goes out of control doesn't suck with the ms3 either...

Yeah I can see the benefit of that, especially when your really after it and it is scary enough when you are watching the road.
