I put the wastegate in the wheel well because I ran out of room. Has anybody else done this?

56speedster I'm watching your intercooler build closely because that's in the future for mine. Looks real nice. It's amazing how much performance crap we can fit into our cars. lol.

Is that a Tial gate? How come it didn't fit next to the collector? Mine is close, but does fit. Either way though, it looks good up there.brookester wrote:I put the wastegate in the wheel well because I ran out of room. Has anybody else done this?

It's a Tial knock off. It might have fit but it would have been tight. Then I thought of this idea and it seemed kinda cool. I haven't cut the dump pipe yet.

Re: Turbo Gallery
There are smaller and much higher flowing gates.
Yeah they cost a few bucks more but the trade-off in time and money spent doing what you had to do makes it more than worth it.

Re: Turbo Gallery
Marty, I have 38mm Tial gate and a CB/TS 38mm Ultra-Gate. In your opinion, will the Turbosmart Gate outperform the Tial. I just picked up the TS gate and was considering running that come spring, just for the heck of it. I don't seem to have boost creep/overshooting issues with the current gate at this point. What benefit is there to be had by swapping gates? I'm running a lot of boost in my pump gas street car, I will be shooting for 30ish psi come spring/summer if the motor will let me.

Re: Turbo Gallery
If you are not pushing that gate to the point of creeping yet, and its not leaking yet, the benefit will just be size, weight, and longevity.
Which CB gate do you have? Does it have the collar or bolts in the cap?

Put it next to the other and take a pic.
Also weight them against each other.
