I've put in the 7 psi springs (smallest I could find in the boxes)

Better to be blown than to suck!

Re: 2,23 ltr type 4 turbo build-up
Slow steps mate: not all safeguards are working at the moment, wastegates are not plumbed either and I am not using E85 as a fuel, but regular pump gas...
It will also be the very first drive out for the car on turboboost, so forgive me if I am not boosting the snot out of it right away
I would be very happy with a baseline. With 0,5 bar boost, it would be easy to predict where 1 bar boost would end up...

Looks really good! Still going to use water/meth spray with this one?

That is one of those safeguads that is not attached at the moment.Chip Birks wrote: ↑Mon May 14, 2018 6:17 am Looks really good! Still going to use water/meth spray with this one?
I also noticed I had a strange short in the injector where I had hooked the brains of the aquamist on to, so I removed the power of the unit alltogether.
Can't get ahold of Aquamist for a new unit or discuss the problem I noticed...

Re: 2,23 ltr type 4 turbo build-up
Thats super frustrating! I'm planning to hook up my HSV to an injector channel like the Aquamist design. I've been pulsing based on a duty table. I want the linear nature of pulsing based on an injector channel instead of attempting it with the duty table.

Looks great! turbo'ing 4 TB's is why ive just gone single... thats some system!
is it just the dizzy hole you have as an engine breather? -10? i'm porsche cooled too and so face the same issues

Re: 2,23 ltr type 4 turbo build-up
No, there's an extra AN10 breather on the other side, taken from the top of the original breather box as part of the horizontal set-up. I run dry-sump, so I actually don't need much venting, if any at all. Since my DS tank is in the front and can't connect them to the top of the tank, I vent to a breather box in the engine bay. It runs easy over 7,5K, so some extra venting seemed wise, but maybe not needed. So far, so good though.andy198712 wrote: ↑Mon May 14, 2018 12:37 pm

Re: 2,23 ltr type 4 turbo build-up
Just finally got the parts in to connect the twin spark!
This was the most rewarding thing to do all year so far

Might get some turbo lag with it setup like the video
Ahhh I forgot you were dry sump!

You think?
Waiting for some extra small diameter 'vacuum' line to connect everything else, but should be done by this Saturday. Fingers crossed.

Re: 2,23 ltr type 4 turbo build-up
Well, wastegate springs are the weakest I could find in the box. That should be 7 psi, but they did about 10psi (?)
The thing I did not know was that my twin spark plug routing (both leads on one coil both to 1 cylinder) doesn't work under load. Or at all basically as you fire both plugs in the compression stroke and the single coil in wasted spark mode just doesn't cope with that. It dies out. Especially under boost, which limited the run to 5000RPM. The www does have some info regarding that, or so I was informed by people smarter then me
Still with only 0,5-0,7 bar the hp basically doubled, which is very very exciting for when the car is tuned some more.
As the wastegates dumped towards the firwall (not plumbed in the downpipe yet), you could hear that wastegates already started opening at ~0,3 bar (!)
Some later runs could not get back to 0,7 and boost stayed at 0,5 bar (7psi). This didn;t help either probably
Upgrades will be:
- a new lambda sensor as AFR was all over the place..
- a new 4-port BCS to replace the 3-port
- 4 extra long spark plug wires to reroute the plug wires (one coil pack for the top plugs, the other one for the bottom ones)
- air intake rerouting to under the car as opposed to in the top (hot) side of the engine compartment now.
- routing both wastegates into the downpipe.
- wrap the downpipe also after welding as its also mostly in the engine compartment..
- adjusting knock sensitivity (wasn't working atm)
