Did you build the collector or buy it pre-made?

Build it from two 2-1 pieces, then heavily modify it.

As per usual, very impressive stuff. One question... Have you got some sort of plan to keep the heat out of the engine bay?

Re: 2,23 ltr type 4 turbo build-up
Yeah, that is a legit concern!
The idea is to heavily isulate the header and for the turbine of the turbo I have a turbo-blanket to keep the heat inside.
As always, any solution (in this case my turbo placement) is a compromise. This solution is however the result of my perception of which benefits outweigh the downsides of it.
Others may feel different about that, but thats all part of our hobby hey?

Very nice. I am about to build a new header/collector and I can't quite wrap my head around getting all the correct angles cut for the merged 4 into 1 collector. I've had the family saving toilet paper roll tubes for me to practice with!

Re: 2,23 ltr type 4 turbo build-up
There are some pretty awesome new coatings that will help you with that. You can have the inside and outside ceramic coating. Then on top of that, you can wrap it with fibreglass wrap. That should help you a lot. I gather that's mild steel you have there, but even so, the coating is pretty great for it. I've got black ceramic coating on the outside of mine and it's been fantastic so far. Totally worth the few hundred dollars I paid for it.Wally wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2017 3:47 amYeah, that is a legit concern!

Its all mild stainless actually (304), and I already got some DEI 'titanium exhaust wrap' for it, but thanks for the suggestions.

How does that DEI look? I ordered some titanium myself a couple days ago. I think I'm going to use 304 stainless myself. I was planning to use mild steel but I found the 304 for nearly the same price.

This is the 1st I've checked back into your thread in months. Is that a T1 engine to replace the T4?

No, just billet type 4 heads with type 1 style exhaust ports

Re: 2,23 ltr type 4 turbo build-up
Exhaust and intake mostly done and with a little luck I can make it to the dyno coming Saturday for a run on (very) low boost..
Intercooler will be as before for now: mounted in the ducktail.
