I bought a $7 bleed off type manual boost controller off of ebay. I didn't get much time with it before I pulled the engine, but it seemed to work just fine. Also, I have no way to tell for sure, but it seemed like it also boosted quicker when I had it opened up a little. Not sure if that means I have a problem with the wastegste or not, but it sure seemed to improve it.

I've got one, just waiting to put it on. Once the car is engineered, then it, new injectors, WB and the like will all go on. Just want to get things squared away first before I blow it... I mean, wind it up. :D

Well, I'm enjoying your US hospitality atm. Staying in Reseda in LA for a few days. The Mexican food here is off the chain. Driving on the wrong side of the road is not too bad and we're getting used to avoiding the freeways. Went to the Peterson and saw a gaggle of cool cars today including vintage porsches. Anyone local who wants to give me a scare in their turbo acvw, PM me. I'm here till Friday morning.

Sadly, Utah isn't part of the plan. Wish it was.

Hey Pete, we had a great time with you and Liz, hope your trip home went well.
Thanks for diagnosing the poor running problem on my buggy!

Thanks for having us. We had such a nice time with you guys and your buggy is good fun. Looking forward to hearing about the bigger turbo. Just remember to fill up the gas tank before you go out next. ;)

It's been 2 months since the beetle got a proper run, but last night I took it out to a Jazz Jam I go to over here. The weather has been wet and miserable so I was a little cautious, but man, how nice is it to drive. It could do with a wheel alignment, but aside of that it was pretty fun.

Anyway, pulling up to the lights just outside of Richmond a guy in a modern car decided to try and whip around the old bomb. I saw him coming in 1st gear, by the end of 2nd he'd given up! Had to laugh. I suspect he really didn't expect the car to get up and boogie like that. Then on the way home I had a slight scare coming into a round about. Turns out disc brakes can work a little too well, so I employed some manual ABS and all good. Just for a laugh, I thought I'd dump 2nd as I was pulling away. To my surprise (and amusement), the whole rear end sidestepped. Man I'm enjoying this car again. :)

P.s. needs more boost.

It's seatbelt day today! Yay!

You might be think why am I excited. Except this is the last step in getting the car engineered and properly done. In other good news, I'll get the car club registered in October, radically lowering the cost of rego! I'll take some pics of the seatbelt setup. Suffice to say, we're very thankful for semaphore holes. :)

This means the car is finally legal. Yay! :D

Stupid local, nanny state, overkill, wowser laws.

Anyhow, that means I can get back to fun things like oil leaks and turning up the boost. I'm just waiting on a few bits of paper and I'm good to go! :)
