Gettin back into it

Post by buguy »

Holy crap. Just found an old video I put up when I first was able to make some boost. Damn! 9 years ago??! I'm excited to get back to it. 8 days until I leave to go get her. Haven't seen it since 2008![BBvideo=560,315]https://youtu.be/DCfK9dI23L4[/BBvideo]

Trust me the wait is killing me! After sitting so long, any advice before I fire it up? I know the battery will be bad so I have to grab one of those. If I remember right I think I left it 6v.

If that's the engine it's 12v, the alternator kinda gives it away

Well the engine is out of a 12v but I don't remember changing all the bulbs or anything? Guess I will know when I see the battery. Now that I think about it more I do remember reading that the 6v starter would live with 12v to it so maybe I did? Dang! Can't believe I don't remember!

Just dont crank to long with a 6v starter on a 12v battery

And change te oil before any startup.
Better to be blown than to suck!

I hope to clean the carb and put fresh fuel in it. She used to fire right off so I hope I won't have to crank it much.

Is there information out there of what stock compression ratios would be? I seem to remember my engine was a little odd. It was a 1974 smog engine if I'm remembering correctly.

Finally made it home. She got a couple bruises but nothing I can't fix. Trans and brakes feel weird but I will go through all that. Dumped a little gas in the carb and she fired right up and idled perfectly. Not bad for 10 year old gas.
