Since you're struggeling so much.

Why dont you just rebuild it NA with adding turbo in the future in mind?

You got everything to get it running.

Save up for the efi package. Do it once and cry once.

You will always be compromising with your carbs....

I did blow my motor once with my supercharger. I cried once, put good internals in and saved everything over 2 years now. Makes it verry easy on the wallet.

You would have to kill me before I would go back to NA now!
But really I'm not too worried about running it boosted. Maybe just turn it down a bit. I'm not 100% sold on the AA's yet so we will see.

I feel the same way about carb. I just built an NA 2180 with dual 40 IDFs. It actually idled and sounded really good. But that stupid thing would clog a jet everytime I got on it. I had those carbs off probably 4 times in 2 weeks, cleaning and fixing stuff.
To be fair they had sat for a year, and definietly had crud in them. I just couldn't get them to clean up.

Run the AAs, you'll be fine. Just keep fueling good and timing conservative. Detonation breaks parts, not boost.

I'm going to try the AA's. Better to learn the hard way on this case before I shell out for a new one

Dang. I was told the AA 500 heads have a better chamber design than the 043. On their website they have a 15% discount if you add them on social media. That's $100 off if I got p&c at the same time. I'm not a social media guy though!

Nothing wrong with AA heads as a stock replacement and AA P/C's as long as you watch your tune.

Buy the cheapest solution so you can save for the ultimate goal of FI and you too can have the great expensive addiction of boost.

For $100 it might be worth it to create one. I have an account, but use it to stay in touch with the vw world where places like this fail. I haven't added a single photo to my profile and have never posted on it. I'm not there to draw attention to myself or my family, mainly just to stay in touch with the scene.

That's my plan clone. I want to make smart choices and try to plan for the end goal so I'm not having to upgrade stuff I'm buying now.
I want to get it rebuilt and running. Then do something with my trans. Then do FI.
$100 might be worth creating one. I guess I could always create it and then close/cancel it after if I wanted to.
Also I really hate to but I'm feeling like all that tube I just bought might be for nothing. I think it would have been ok for a stock 1600, but now with better heads, bigger bore, and more cam.... I'm afraid it's just going to be too small. It's measuring out at like 1.275" ID. I guess it would be good practice if nothing else. I could send it back but shipping was nuts. I think it was around $65 in shipping for both places.

Dang. I don't have any idea what kind they are. Chinese I would assume. But the price on the dual port head is incredible. Actually all the prices on these are pretty good. If they are worth a crap. Shipping on a set of heads would still be $46 though.

Ok. Decided on 94mm pistons. Gunna make it a 1915. They are ordered and on their way. Went with AA.

I bought a set from AA, too. I cut the cylinders to fit the 90.5/92mm bore.

I have stock bore on the case right now. Have to open that up. I have to get new heads anyway so I will just get some opened up for 94's when I order them. Once I see what I need for a chamber size.
Still not real sure what cam I want yet either. I was hoping to get some feedback from CB but nothing yet.
