Where do you guys get your turbo flanges for the exhaust?

Had a quick look on ebay and found some for 50$ excl shipping...

I guess too, but it wont be verry easy in 1cm thick steel. And i want everything concerning the exhaust in stainless.

And thats verry hard. Just HARD....

I do have gaskets for both to make perfect copy's.

I made one set but Woodsbuggy made me a set for the TD04L turbo.

I made mine out of 3/8ths mild steel and Woodsbuggy made them out of the same.

Stainless is just too much bling for me......and money......since I am cheap........

Hi.

Couldnt connect to the site the whole weekend.
Did a lot of work on the buggy.

Got the hood off. More work than i tought. Had to remove bumper, frontlights and a lot of brackets.
Good to see that the buggy is verry well made.







In the meanwhile i emptied the fueltank and cleaned it. No suprisses there either

I had to hang the hood with some bands to the ceiling cause otherwise i had to undo all the dash wiring.



Then the steering wheel came off so i can make the turn signal lever shorter. It hits mu knuckels when i hold the steering wheel with my left hand.


Looks to be alloy so have to get it welded by someone else.

Next up is figuring out how to install the linelock.

That switch is what is called "pot metal" and will be a real challenge to weld.

Make sure you have a replacement before you try welding it because it will probably be useless once you try.......

I won't weld it myself. I have a masterwelder in my town. He can weld everything.
(His hobby is old motorcycles, 1930-1950) i think he has about
16 or so. He doest bragg about his collection but is a master in what he does.

Im gonna use my friends welder (with gas) for the first time on the rear suspension. If im good at it me and my dad are gonna buy one next year.

This is probably the best definition of "pot metal" I found doing an on-line search. The thing about taking scraps and throwing it in the mix is what I was remembered. Using it for a low heat, pre-manufacturing test casting before production is another use of it but the not being good for welding and heat embrittlement is what you want to know.

Some of the definitions' I read included Zinc based or copper based and it is common in making jewelry.

You guys were right, the damn pot metal didnt want to get welded. Its crap.

But i went along and cut a piece out. Aprox 2cm.

Now gonna put a little U in sheetmetal over it and put 4 small bolts trough it.

Depending on how you do it, you should be able to join it together with metal putty.

One if the problems with pot metal is that the mix of components expand and shrink at different rates and speeds. I seem to remember something about preheating and controlling the cool down of the parts.

If I had some around here I would see what spot welding does.

So i went with the u bend and 4 screws.

Came out neat!

Let the paint dry now
