If so I didn't know they were still being ground and especially didn't know that they were available for a VW.

Pretty sure the TCS series cams are split duration cams. They have different exhaust and intake lobe profiles. The 20 has an engle 110 exhaust and engle 120 intake essentially. I could be backward on that, but when I ran that cam a decade ago, it was something like that. Mine went flat and destroyed my engine, might be half of why i have such a bad taste in my mouth for the TCS stuff. I've also just really liked everything else I've had since then. My own 1641 won't be getting a small cam  probably won't have very low compression either.

And a turbo? Or a NA screamer?

I also thik that is what he means. No 1/4 cam for me.

Anyway, maybe i'll stick with the w110 i have now.

The 1000 till 2000rpm on that cam is for me sometimes a bit anoying. Not much happening there.

I usualy pull till 5000 5200 revs.
With the turbo it will be max 6000 revs.

Having computer problems today.

"He replied that we would better look for a single lobe cam instead of a dual." This is what keyed me to the Schaller dual lobe cam design.

"Pretty sure the TCS series cams are split duration cams."

"Web Cam Type 1 Split Duration Camshaft Grind 218/119, 00-562 is designed for 1/2 1600 Class Cars, and it's specs are .460/.422" Valve Lift with 1.1 Rockers, 280/276 degrees of advertised duration, and 242/240 degrees of duration at .050" checking clearance." On my SBF I run a split duration as the old Ford small block engines seem to like them. Chevs played with them but didn't seem to take to them as well but from what I have been reading the newer style engines may be different. The quotes are a few than I found on line.

Opinions are worth what you pay for them  .

I most surely dont know anything about v8's...

But at least now i know what split duration is. Or as my builder refers to it as single or dual lobe...

First of all I was surprised to see that VW engines were playing with the split cam shafts.

As I remember, and remember it is been a long time, is that it has a lot to do with better exhaust clean out due to cam timing and the duration of the exhaust valve being open a bit sooner and/or longer allowing for more air flow during the period of time that both the intake and exhaust valves being open. I seem to remember there being some cooling advantages because of the cooler air mixed with fuel going through the system. Again, this is from memory as it has been since the earily 90s and I have thrown a lot of that information out recently. If you do a search on it the answers don't seem to be complete.

http://www.compcams.com/Pages/413/cam-t ... angle.aspx Maybe this will help explane the split duration cam some.

Thanks for the replies, but i kinda got overwhelmed by all the info and possible combinations.
I will hold off on the cam search and revisit when the case is split.

Came along a cb gen4 efi system, for sale trough ebay from a guy selling the efi to fund a twin engine dragster. Or something like it

Anyway, interesting deal,

Ecu, labeled wiring loom, fuel rail end fittings, regulator, BOV, wastegate, boost valve and all the sensors!

Hope to close the deal soon!

But i did spend the whole day reorganising the garage. I now have more workspace.
Will take pictures tomorow!

Greetz!

So the deal from yesterday didnt work out, after doing some math it was hardly any cheaper then buying everything new.

Today i bolted the hardtop back on. No more productivity after that ImageImageImage

Anyway, some pics of my workshop ImageImageImage

Little update,

I got the intercooler cleaned by a friend that works on aviation engines. Their machineshop is amazing. They got every tool you could dream of.

He got all the nasty stuff from the inside washed out. Outside looks much too.

I got it wraped with cardboard for now. The finns damage easy.

I then ordered 2 spal fans. They move over 500cfm / fan.

Thet got in today and look verry nice. They blow pretty hard too!!

ImageImage

I got a new idea for placement of the intercooler core .

Image

I have 2 package trays in the back of my manx, 1 for the battery and one with misc stuff.
I could delete that box and have a precut hole with a lockable top in return.
I could put it open when i drive the car. And close it for stealth.
The core fitss exactly under the cut-out square in the body and lid.

The 2 fans will suck the cold air from the top and blow hot air down to the rear!

I do would have to make a standoff to get the outlet from the ic away from the top of the rear suspension. The top of the rear shock would be in the way.

But it would allow me to make some nice ducting from the top to the ic.

Fans are the sucking type.

Ya'll toughts?
