modified header extractor for hidden turbo

I would rather stay away from intensive exhaust system building and just turn the end of a header up to mate to a turbo if possible. I have heard where a lot of aftermarket exhausts have to be cut up and refitted anyway so doing SOME fabrication is fine by me. I really don't think joining the single bank together into one pipe actually works and is just a 'tubular exhaust manifold'. I have very strong suspicions that the math does not work out the same as making it practical manufacture. The one cylinder will create a vacuum for the other but if you only have one collector all of the cylinders are contributing to create vacuum at the single collector.

It looks like the only inexpensive header to modify that is available in a 1 5/8" is going to be a Merged Header. I guess that will have to be my favorite.

The plan is to build a 1904 or a 90.5 x whatever.

From a chart 1 5/8ths is good to about 200hp.

I've had a 1.5 on my 2276 for about 8 years now. Made well over 300whp. 278whp confirmed on a dyno, at low boost, with my smallest cam and little turbo. Its only made more since then.

I will seriously keep that in mind when I'm flipping a coin to make a decision. All of my turbo research makes me wish my car wasn't in 300 pieces.

I was thinking 1 5/8" might be too big and you could loose air speed.

Its worked real good. Biggest frustrations were the oil line routing and that i didn't go with stainless. Otherwise, its been nice.

I can tell you for sure if I didn't have some weird thing to route around where you would need the engine and car to build it, I would buy one pre-made. Shipping on my bends killed any real savings I had finding cheap bends. And I still have to make it myself which surely won't be nearly as nice as a pro would do it.
